So, I've got two friends getting married soon - and that means I get to buy new dresses, and shoes, and bags, and jewelry - and all of that makes me smile. My wallet... not so much... but, I'm having a ball. I spent Sunday with one of my dearest friends, roaming the shops and getting feedback on how things looked, etc. And, I found two dresses that I really like. Well, one that I love, and another that I really like. One is flirty and cute and the other is sexier - both have a bit of romance, which is really what I wanted. So, now I get to add the rest. Wahoo!
I'm creating a little look book for myself. Have you ever done that? It's great fun! I'm just using Word and Pages - but, I have heard that there are websites that will do this for you. That would be great - but, perhaps too limiting, since most of what I want isn't necessarily online in one of their approved shops. When they're ready perhaps I'll post them here... but, for now, let's get back to the point at hand - and talk about shoes!!
So, the first dress is just plain black - it's a wrap top, with sheer shoulders, and a forty's-esque skirt with a skinny little patent belt. I'm interested in adding some color - pink, purple, or red for shoes - and using a clutch I already own (I know, sadness - nothing new) that has metallic threads in all those colors on it... I want pop! but, want to do it classically... so, the red is my initial choice. I can't help it - I'm a classic kinda girl. I'd also like to really vamp up the accessories with this one and see if I can make it work for a Mad Men Cocktail Party this Spring. We'll see this dress again somewhere...
And, since I can't stand it when I can never again find the name or color or link for something... I'll include it all with any shopping style posts I make. Or at least, I'll sure try!
These are absolutely gorgeous, are they not? I must have them, even if they don't make the wedding trip...
And, these were fun and kind of flirty... but, the toe box on them is so very small, unfortunately. I couldn't imagine wearing them through the ceremony, much less dancing in them. I may try the next size up...
Then, these pink ones. Lots of pop! but, when I enlarged the photo I realized that the dark spot is not actually a peep-toe. So, I'm not yet sold on them, but they certainly are adorable!!
Lastly, my friend found these purple ones - I found these other purple ones. I love them both! But, am I really ready to wear purple shoes. Let's sleep on that one...
Well... DSW appears to be having some technical difficulties - so I cannot post those shoes just now. I'll try to remember to edit them in at a later date, as I only have the link and do not recall the name at all.
ETA (09/17/09) :
Oh, and since I was shopping - I did actually buy these while I contemplate the others. Couldn't help it - I adore them and they were actually on sale. How could a girl resist?
The other dress is lace on top and black shutter pleat on the bottom. Soooo flattering! and sexy! I love it!! I'm also going to create another opportunity to wear it. So, who's having a big party this Holiday season? Me, if I have to! :-)
Right now - I'm really considering wearing a pair of shoes that I already own... Surprising, eh? But, I'll most definitely be in the market for a new bag - another day, another batch of photos...
These are the shoes I wore in my brother's wedding.
I think they're lovely - and the color is a near match to the fabric beneath the lace. Not sure if I like that or not, though. Or rather, I didn't Oooh and Aaah at myself when I tried them on together. I'll get a few more opinions on that.
I look forward to one day looking back at this little hodge-podge of shoe ideas. I was going to just post the pictures for my own later review... but, am glad now that I went ahead and wrote my thoughts and recent activities. Fun stuff! XOXO
